MY EDUCATIONAL and PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

I received my masters degree in social work from Fordham University in New York City in 1998. I then completed a post-masters certificate program in Family Forensic Psychology from the Washington Square Institute, also in NYC. Next, I was fortunate enough to complete all three years of my coursework towards my PhD in social work at New York University, before having to take an extensive medical leave, preventing me from completing my dissertation. While that remains some of my professional unfinished business, I believe in celebrating accomplishments and finding value in all experiences, regardless of the whether or not you achieve the desired outcome.
My extensive educational background has been a tremendous accompaniment to my more than two decades of experience working in the field. I have worked with adults in psychiatric in-patient and in individual and group out-patient treatment. I have worked with children, parents, and foster parents involved in the child welfare system. I have worked with adolescents diagnosed with mental health issues in out-of-home residential placement, as well as out-patient settings. I have worked with complex family and relationship situations. I have worked with families going through high-conflict divorce, or relationship dissolution, who are challenged to work together to co-parent their children. I have provided comprehensive assessment and evaluations for lawyers and judges throughout NYC in all matters involving family court and divorce court matters, as well as expert witness testimony.
I have received additional training to be a recognized Parent Coordinator. I received additional training to become a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and I have also received additional training to become a Board Certified Telehealth Provider.
Not only do I feel it is important to provide the highest quality services to individuals and families, I also believe it is critically important to help shape and develop future professionals in the field. To contribute to that cause, I am an adjunct professor. I teach in the masters of social work program at Fordham University. I am an academic and field placement advisor in the Columbia University School of Social Work, and I teach in the Social Work and Child Advocacy department at Montclair State University. I have received my SIFI certification, which allows me to provide field instruction to students seeking their masters degrees. I am approved by the New York State Office of the Professions to provide clinical supervision to LMSWs seeking to obtain a higher level of clinical licensure.
I am affiliated with several professional organizations including the NASW National Association of Social Workers, as well as the AFCC Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
